Scotland team for Loughborough

Three Scottish athletes have been named by British Athletics in a team of 48 for the U20 selection for the Loughborough International match this weekend.

Jumpers Alessandro Schenini of Giffnock North and Miraji Ahmed of Glasgow School of Sport have been selected in the field while Pitreavie AAC athlete, Billy Doyle, is in the 4x400m Relay team.

Both Alessandro, who was with GB at this event last year, and Miraji are coached by David Watson while Billy is coached at Pitreavie by Roy Buchanan and Francis Smith.

Congratulations to these three athletes, their families, coaches and the clubs involved in their development over the years.

British Athletics U20 team leader team leader Trevor Painter said: ‘The team that we have selected for the Loughborough International match is one that we believe has the potential to score some good performances across the board for the British team.

‘We see the match as a perfect stepping stone towards the European U20 Championships in Borås later this year and it offers a fantastic chance for some of the best rising stars in British athletics to test themselves against some of the best domestic athletes in the United Kingdom.’
