The Royal Highland Centre at Ingliston is the venue for the Young Athletes Road Races on Sunday – as hundreds of athletes contest Scottish championship medals.

And there are places up for grabs in Scotland teams for the London Mini Marathon event next month, with teams selected at U17 and U15 level.

On Sunday, the first four athletes across the line in these age-groups – U17 and U15 – are automatically selected for the trip to London. There are two further discretionary places to be decided by our selectors to make up four teams of six and 24 athletes in total.

*Athletes who cross the line in the top eight places at U17 and U15 are asked to report to the registration building after their race in order to supply more details about London. (Note: being asked to complete paperwork linked to the Mini Marathon is not a guarantee of selection).

Selection policy re Mini Marathon

With it being a new venue, we’d ask everyone coming along to Ingliston to check the timetable below in terms of declarations (by team managers) and some of the geography of the site.

Parking is available at the Royal Highland Centre at a charge of £5 per car (£10 per bus) but there is also free parking available a bit further away from the course.

It looks like being a hugely popular event with no fewer than 636 names on our start-lists for the six races.

That is a big increase on the 551 last year (when the event actually had to be cancelled) and is over 600 for the first time.

Once again this is another big demonstration of commitment to scottishathletics National Championship events by our clubs.

Thank You!

*Many thanks also (in advance) to our dedicated officials and helpers from the Road Running and Cross Country Commission and from host club Harmeny AC. Your help is much appreciated.
