Scottish athletes were in action in various locations, and disciplines, over the weekend.

Here are a few performances well worth highlighting . . .

Naomi Lang’s off-road achievements have been something of a theme over the past year or two and the GB international mountain and trail runner came up with another big performance.

In the hugely demanding Mont Blanc Marathon, Naomi placed third to repeat her feat at the same event a year ago. It’s hard to emphasise the degree of difficulty of this famous Alpine marathon event and just great to see a Scot on that kind of podium.

Well done to Naomi and her coach, Lewis Walker, who both featured in one of our recent video documentaries.

Jake Wightman came up with the third fastest 1500m time of his career at the Diamond League meet in Paris.

Australian Cam Myers won the race in a new Australian Record of 3:28.00 and Jake placed third in an impressive 3:29.95.

The Scot plans to race 1000m in Monaco in the Diamond League as his preparations continue towards Glasgow 2026 and the European Champs.

Young Scottish athletes were in action in Cardiff as Welsh Athletics hosted the GB trials for Euro U18s.

On Saturday, there were automatic selection places secured for Douglas Knox, Rhian Mitchell and Aaron Reid. Aaron posted a Scottish U18 Record in the 2000m Steeplechase with his 5:50.31 run.

On Sunday there were fine performances by Alistair Street, Leanna Elliot, Dionne Maguinness and Sophie Robertson as hopes rose of further Scottish selections.

In the Senior Welsh Champs there were medals for Dylan Phillips in High Jump (bronze), Euan Urquhart in shot (bronze) and Sarah Pearson in the 400m Hurdles (silver). Congratulations to athletes and coaches !

*The GB and NI selection for European U18 Champs is expected to be confirmed by UK Athletics on Wednesday of this week.
