Track of Dreams delivers another Classic in Stirling

The University of Stirling is once again poised to host an athletics spectacle as the 8th Monument Mile Classic prepares to unleash its most competitive fields to date on Saturday night.

This year marks a unique occasion as the event has been invited by British Athletics to host the prestigious and historic Emsley Carr & Millicent Fawcett Mile races, adding an extra layer of history to what promises to be an unforgettable night.

This is the first time since 1980 that the Emsley Carr Mile has been held in Scotland and in total over 30 mile races are scheduled, culminating in the highly anticipated elite fields.

Fans, Officials, volunteers, press, and athletes will converge on Stirling this Saturday, August 30, ready to Bring the Flames.

‘I didn’t think it was possible to better the fields we had in 2024; however, thanks to the support from the International Athletics community in 2025, we are going to witness the best fields we have ever hosted,’ said Race Director Michael Wright.

They will face a fierce Scottish challenge from Commonwealth Games athlete Eloise Walker, British 1500m Champion Sarah Calvert, Scottish Steeplechase record holder Sarah Tait, and Olympian Megan Keith – with Tait and Keith just selected for the World Championships in Tokyo.

Completing the impressive British lineup are Hollie Parker and Ellie Leather, alongside international talents Sarah Madeleine of France and Tsige Teshome of Ethiopia.

The Women’s B race has also significantly elevated its calibre, featuring USA Masters World Champion Anna Connor and Maddie Boreman.

A diverse group of British talent, from Madison Kindler to former champion Hannah Cameron, will ensure thrilling competition.

They will contend with Olympic/World medallist and Steeplechase US Record holder Evan Jager, Denmark’s European U23 Champion Joel Ibler Lillesø, and a strong British contingent.

University of Stirling’s Ryan Martin, fresh from a GB call-up, seeks to impress, while Cameron Boyek targets a sub-four-minute mile, and Henry McLuckie aims to finish his breakthrough 2025.

The Men’s B race is packed with talent and compelling storylines. Local Scottish legend Andrew Butchart makes a highly anticipated return to his old training track. He’s joined by former Monument Mile Champion Ben Potrykus, in-form Tom Graham-Marr, and Paralympic T20 1500m World Record holder Ben Sandilands.

Beyond the elite races, a multitude of Scottish, British, and international talent across all age groups will ignite the track, from local heroes to global competitors. Prepare for a drama-filled evening.
