What a night for Scottish athletes at the Cork City Games this midweek.
There were Commonwealth Games standards for Glasgow 2026 for Stephen Mackenzie in the Men’s Long Jump and for Jamie Phillips in the Men’s 800m.
And Megan Keith was awarded ‘Performance of the Night’ after breaking the Meet Record in her Women’s 3000m victory.
There was a superb Scottish 1-2 in the Long Jump as Stephen won with 7.89m to make the Glasgow 2026 mark. Alessandro Schenini took second with 7.88m windy (one cm from the standard)
Jamie clocked 1:46.64 to make the Men’s 800m standard (1:46.68 is the mark).
Megan took the win in Women’s 3000m with 8:38.37 – breaking the Meet Record held by Irish legend Sonia O’Sullivan. It takes Megan to fifth best on the Scottish all-time list.
