Scots head for Inter-Counties XC; European Throwing Cup

Thursday 9th March 2023

The cross country season in Britain concludes this weekend with the Inter-Counties XC at Loughborough.

A number of Scots are headed south to compete for their districts at Prestwold Hall in what is the final event of the British Cross Challenge series.

Points will be allocated for the British Cross Challenge series prize-money and there are a handful of Scots in contention for high places.

Jamie Crowe, after a silver medal at the Lindsays National XC at Falkirk, will represent East in the Senior Men’s as one of only a handful of Senior athletes from Scotland involved this weekend with many now turning their focus towards road running.

Scottish throwers Chris Bennett and Nick Percy head for Portugal this weekend.

Chris is selected for the hammer and Nick for the discus in a GB and NI team of 11 athletes for the the European Throwing Cup.

It takes place this weekend in Leiria in Portugal.

Chris was selected after winning the hammer event at the Winter Throws competition in Loughborough last weekend and marks a strong recovery following shoulder surgery last autumn. Nick is also coming back from injury rehabilitation.

Good luck to both athletes and their coaches, Andy Frost and Zane Duquemin.
