National XC 2015 – Videos

scottishathletics are delighted to once again announce video coverage of this year’s National XC  on Saturday 27 February  – as the second year of the Lindsays Cross Country season reaches an exciting conclusion.

We’ve agreed to hire VincoSport as a production company to supply highlights packages of all nine races taking place at Callendar Park – from the U13s through to the Senior Men.

Under that agreement, the videos will be shown on scottishathleticsTV – that’s our YouTube channel – and we would hope and expect to start to have those available to view within 48 hours of the event’s conclusion at Falkirk.

Entries are closing tomorrow (WEDNESDAY 10 FEBRUARY) by post but we will take entry forms from clubs by email to events@scottishathletics.org.uk. We will take those emails up until 5pm tomorrow.

‘We’re really pleased to have agreed this coverage of the National XC because it is always one of the most exciting and significant days in the year for athletics in Scotland,’ said Nigel Holl, scottishathletics chief executive.

‘I always think of it as a day when the family of athletics gathers together and the atmosphere over the past couple of years has been special. Numbers are rising with cross country in Scotland proving so popular and we’re enjoying the biggest fields at this event for two decades.

‘It is a highly competitive environment, as well, and individual and team medals at Falkirk are dearly coveted. There’s keen competition between clubs and even within clubs!

‘Once again I want to thank clubs from the length and breadth of Scotland who make such a huge contribution on days like the National XC and on a weekly basis. We’re also grateful for the continued backing by Lindsays for the Cross Country season.’

scottishathletics will of course promote and share the links to the Vinco footage of each race via our media channels and, with them being hosted by our YouTube Channel, there’s no issue in terms of a requirement to ‘sign-in’ on VincoSport.

Filming by Vinco at last year’s National XC has proved extremely popular, with the 1o separate videos produced that day (nine races plus a highlights package) have drawn around 15,000 views. Thanks.

As per the entry form, it is 12K for Senior Men this year and 8K for Senior Women. The U20 Men also run 8K with the U20 and U17 Women in a combined race over 4.8K. All the relevant age-group bandings are listed on the information sheet on our Events section.

Please note that in the U15 and U17 age groups, the National XC this year will be regarded as the main selection race for the London Mini Marathon event in April.

This is because London Marathon require Scotland team names prior to our own Junior Road Races on April 2 in Greenock – so the incentives are there for Falkirk, with teams of six boys and six girls usually selected in both U15 and U17 age groups. Current form around that time is also a consideration.

*Clubs are also reminded they are required each supply two marshals to help out on the day. Please email offers of help to Alex Jackson on Alex.Jackson@ed.ac.uk We fully appreciate, too, the efforts of Falkirk Victoria Harriers and Falkirk Community Trust for the National XC.
