Top Scots bid for World Hill team

Friday 7th August 2015

Robbie Simpson and Andrew Douglas

WORLD MOUNTAIN RUNNING CHAMPIONSHIP TRIAL and SENIOR HOME INTERNATIONAL

There’s a very exciting race in prospect as GB’s best mountain runners go head to head at the World trial race on Saturday 22 August – and at the same time contest the Senior Home International.

Performance in this trial will determine which British athletes get places in the teams which will race the World Championships some four weeks later.  The venue of Betws-y-Coed in North Wales is ideal, as the trial will be held over an identical course to the Worlds themselves.

It follows that the Scotland teams that will contest the Home International are amongst the strongest ever assembled, and include both Robbie Simpson and Andrew Douglas, who were the top GB athletes in the recent European Championships with fourth and fifth places respectively.

Congratulations to all athletes and their coaches on their selection for Scotland, and team members are listed below.

But there is also an important reminder that other athletes can still compete in the trial races; and what better incentive than the chance to race in a home World Championships?

Entry details for the Trial races (NB entry is on the day) are online on the British Athletics site.

Course details and maps are here (NB trial and Worlds courses are identical):
