Thanks Law and District AAC for sharing details on forthcoming Officials courses - really good to get that support. And really important if clubs can encourage people to attend the courses and thus help our sport! ...
Scottish Athletics have courses available for officialsLevel 1 Field Emirates arena 28 JanuaryLevel 1 Track Emirates arena 11 FebruaryH&S Emirates arena 11 FebruaryAssistant Official Lornshill Academy, Alloa 13 FebruaryLevel 1 courses are open to anyone over the age of 16 and the assistant officials course to anyone over the age of 14. In all instances a H&S course also requires to be completed before you are able to officiate. The course on 11 February can be completed independently of the officials courses or if not suitable the officials course can be completed and H&S course completed at a later date. Please see this link for details www.scottishathletics.org.uk/officials/courses-for-officials/Once the officials course has been completed you only need to officiate at 4 events to get your assistant official or level 1 official qualification, there are several open graded events planned for Grangemouth, Linwood and Livingston and hopefully dates will be released soon for events at Wishaw, these events are ideal for getting the experience you need. The club will require officials over the coming months for CSSAL and for our own events. For leagues like the CSSAL its disappointing when we lose points for our athletes due to not being able to provide the required number of officials. For our own events it would be good if the club had a pool of officials to call on instead of relying on officials from other clubs to try and get our results on Po10.The number of events you officiate at after you have completed the 4 required to gain your qualification is up to you, when I first started I only officiated at events where my children were competing as that's what suited me, you decide which events you are available for.If interested in completing any of the courses please contact me at email@example.comThanks
