Scottish 5k Road Race entries open
11th April 2012 Entries for the Scottish 5km road race championships are now open. The event takes place on Wednesday 16 May at Silverknowes Esplanade(7.30pm) in Edinburgh and is incorporated into the Run and Become Self Transcendence summer series. It will be the second race in the 2012 Scottish road race grand-prix and although attracting some of Scotland’s top club athletes, is also open to runners of all standards. Race co-ordinator Adrian Stott commented: ‘The inaugural Scottish 5km road championships in 2011 was generally acknowledged to be a huge success with many of Scotland’s top club runners coming together to pull each other to some fast times. ‘Many PBs were recorded, not just at the sharp end, but right throughout the field to the final finishers. We are delighted to be asked to host the event for the second year and look forward to the flat riverside course again providing some good competition and fast times.’ There will be scottishathletics medals to the first three men and women and the first three veteran (35) men and women as well as for the first three senior teams (three to count). The event also now incorporates the Under-20 Road Championships following a switch from Rouken Glen and there will be medals therein for the first three men and women and the first three teams (three to count).
