Eilidh into European Final29th July 2010 Eilidh Child (Pitreavie) stepped up to make her mark at senior level by reaching the 400m hurdles final at the European Championships in Barcelona. Finishing 4th in her semi-final in 55.27, just a tenth outside her Scottish record set earlier this year, Child progressed as the quickest of the fastest losers to join team-mate Perri Shakes-Drayton in Friday's final. Both will be looking to build on their success at last year's European U23 Championships where Child took silver and Shakes-Drayton gold. In the women's 400m Lee McConnell (Shaftesbury) finished 4th in her heat in a time of 53.15, unfortunately not enough to progress. Full results and startlists here. ![]() |
