SCOTTISH TEAM FOR WORLD LONG DISTANCE MOUNTAIN RUNNING CHALLENGE
1st September 2009 Nine athletes have been selected to represent Scotland at this year's World Mountain Running Association (WMRA) World Long Distance Mountain Running Challenge, which is incorporated within the Kaisermarathon event in Soll, Austria on Saturday 10th October. The Scottish team is: Men Alasdair Anthony (Ochils) Women Lucy Colquhoun (Carnethy) The 26.2 mile Kaisermarathon course goes via Scheffau, Ellmau and the Ski-region Wilder Kaiser. It ends in a brutally steep uphill finish - a a tough test of endurance - at the top of the “Hohe Salve” (1.829m sea level). Jethro Lennox (pictured) will be defending the World Long Distance title he won at last year's Yorkshire Three Peaks Race and will face stiff opposition from a quality field. The Kaisermarathon course record holder is six times World Mountain Running Champion Jonathan Wyatt of New Zealand (3h 3mins).
