FREE TICKETS GOING FAST

12th July 2007

Tickets are going fast for the Bank of Scotland Celtic Cup, which will take place at Grangemouth Stadium on Tuesday July 31st, broadcast live on Sky Sports from 7-9pm.

Already 1500 tickets have been snapped up for this years event which will see several high-profile guest athletes compete, including Australia's World Championships Bronze medallist Craig Mottram, England's Olympic Gold medallist Jason Gardener, Irish Olympian and distance legend Sonia O'Sullivan, who will be making a farewell track appearance in Scotland in an Irish vest and Commonwealth heptathlon bronze medallist Jessica Ennis, who led Britain to their first win in the European Cup of Combined Events last weekend (7/8th July).

Last year, thousands of fans witnessed a memorable night of athletics as Scotland's captain Lee McConnell lifted the inaugural International match trophy after beating Ireland and Wales.

Scotland will again be led by Lee McConnell, who is delighted to see the competition return for 2007. "It's a great event and an amazing opportunity for Scottish athletes to wear the Scottish vest with pride, in Scotland and live on Sky TV," she said.

The action wont just take place on the track.

The ScottishPower Youth Festival is a fantastic opportunity for young athletes to get involved in the big occasion.

In 2006, hundreds of children from schools and clubs across Scotland took part in the ScottishPower Youth Festival in advance of the big event in Inchyra Park, before taking in the top-class track and field meeting which followed in the evening.

For 2007, the emphasis will again be on innovation and excitement with integrated activity from the Youth Festival through to the main showcase event.

ScottishPower Young Athlete Club Road Races will provide a competitive edge and the first 20 clubs to confirm they are bringing a bus can claim a £250 donation to coach travel payable to club funds.
