Andy Douglas – another international race coming up with GB

Euro Hills report

Scottish hill runner Andy Douglas is headed for Italy this midweek as he represents British Athletics at the World Mountain Running Champs.

Douglas has already raced at the Europeans this month, where he finished seventh, and the Italian assignment at Premana is an up-and-down course.

Stirling-based, Ochil runner Graham Gristwood is also in the GB and BI team for the Worlds event, for the second time, with the races taking place on Sunday.

‘I’m looking forward to another international championship and we’re due to fly out on Thursday and then take a good look at the course on Friday,’ said Andy.

‘I’m feeling in good form as up-and-down course are where I feel I’m most comfortable on and can get good results.

‘There’s no doubt it’ll be another high quality field but the smaller teams, with four for each nation being the limit instead of six, I think will make it a cleaner race. It looks a tough course, typically Italian with narrow, steep trails with a bit of road running thrown in.’

All at scottishathletics wish all the best for the World Champs to Andy and his coach, Sophie Dunnett.
